Coronavirus (COVID-19): Vaccinations in Scotland – latest data

This blog looks at data from Public Health Scotland on the number of vaccinations which have been administered in Scotland. It provides breakdowns by eligibility, age and sex, health board, ethnicity and deprivation.

The blog is no longer being updated as the data is no longer available in this format. Public Health Scotland publish a dashboard which provides data on seasonal Flu and COVID-19 Vaccination program in Scotland.

About the vaccines

There are currently three Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines being rolled out in Scotland.

  • Pfizer/BioNTech from 8 December 2020.
  • Oxford/AstraZeneca from 4 January 2021.
  • Moderna from 7 April 2021.

A 2-dose schedule is advised for the vaccines. For the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine, the second
vaccine dose can be offered between 3 to 12 weeks after the first dose. For the AstraZeneca
and Moderna vaccine, the second dose can be offered 4 to 12 weeks after the first dose.

The Coronavirus (COVID-19): trends in daily data publication from the Scottish Government includes data on daily vaccinations in Scotland. It provides a breakdown of the number of people who have received their COVID-19 vaccination by dose in the period from 8 December up to 8:30 am on the date reported. This is based on management information and is subject to change on any given day.

Categories of individuals who received their COVID-19 vaccination

This section looks at who has been vaccinated by eligibility criteria. This includes healthcare workers, care home staff and residents, and social care workers. It should be noted that individuals can appear in more than one of the eligibility criteria.

Vaccination by age group and sex

This section looks at who has received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination by age group and sex. The greater number of females vaccinated reflects both there being more females in the older population due to higher life expectancy and a greater proportion of females in the health and social care workforce.

Percent coverage is calculated using the National Records of Scotland 2020 mid-year population estimates by age and sex.

Vaccination by NHS health board

This section looks at who has received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccination by NHS board of residence.

Vaccination by ethnicity

This data comes from the Public Health Scotland weekly statistical update. It provides a breakdown by ethnicity, age and dose.

This data comes from the Public Health Scotland weekly statistical update. It provides a breakdown by SIMD decile, age and dose.
