Welcome to SPICe Spotlight

Hello and welcome to SPICe Spotlight, the new blog from the Scottish Parliament Information Centre.

SPICe provides impartial and authoritative research and information services to the Parliament.

Like all Parliament staff, SPICe researchers and information specialists are politically impartial and carry out work for MSPs of all political parties.

As well as answering MSPs’ confidential enquiries and providing briefings to committees, SPICe also publishes detailed briefings on our Digital Briefings hub, which are accessible to all.  We also produce a weekly Brexit update.

SPICe Spotlight will not replace the material on the Briefings Hub or the Brexit update. The aim of the blog is to provide timely, need to know information and analysis on the issues facing the Parliament.

As with all of our work, our primary audience is MSPs, their staff and Parliament staff.  However all blogposts will be publicly available and we hope they will be useful and interesting to people and organisations across Scotland.  As well as blogs from SPICe staff, we will also look to feature guest blogs from academics involved in the SPICe academic engagement programme.

To kick things off, we have published blogs today on the next stages in the budget process, and on electric car charging.  Later in the week we will publish blogs on the issue of legislative consent and on the impact of Brexit on the health sector.

We hope you find the material on SPICe Spotlight interesting and informative. If you have any comments, please contact SPICe via email at spice@parliament.scot.
